A Bit About Me

Therapy That Explores Meaning Making and Sense of Self: A Bit About MeAre you Struggling with your Emotional Life, Sense of Self, or Relationships?

Let’s find the way forward together. For clients, therapy can serve as a safe space to land amidst the throws and demands of the world, enabling them to process difficult emotions or experiences, arrive at new insights about themselves and their ways of being with others, create change where needed, and grow their resiliency while confronting unpredictability and life’s difficulties.

Sense of Self and Other Issues I Work With

The presenting mental health challenges clients come to me with most often revolve around self-esteem and identity, relationship struggles, boundaries, and for support with processing experiences of relational trauma or symptoms of complex trauma. I furthermore have experience with nervous system regulation, offering help for managing emotions and emotional reactivity. Additional issues I work with may include supporting clients through life transitions, as well as with managing shame, guilt, or navigating grief.

Populations I Work With

I offer therapy to adults and adolescents aged 14+. I have experience working with women, men, LGBTQ+ folks, neurodivergent folks, racialized folks, as well as those identifying with open relationships and non-monogamy.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach centres compassion and nonjudgement while prioritizing client autonomy. We’ll explore what you’re going through in a way that honours your goals, beliefs, and values, while working towards change, and aiming to improve your overall sense of well being or sense of self. I’m interested in making the present moment more manageable while also addressing what may be at the root of your struggles.

The modalities I may use include short term psychodynamic therapy, long term psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (informed approach), attachment-based therapy, as well as parts work or IFS therapy (informed, integrative approach).

Training and Credentials

I hold a Diploma of Psychotherapy from the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling College’s 5-year training program in psychodynamic therapy, as well as a Certificate in DBT Informed Therapy from Adler Graduate Professional School’s continuing education program for health care practitioners.

FAQs

Who is a Registered Psychotherapist?

A Registered Psychotherapist is a protected title reserved for health care professionals qualified and permitted to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy in regulated Canadian provinces. Regulated provinces currently include Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. To become a Registered Psychotherapist in independent practice with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as I am, one must graduate from a recognized clinical training program, complete a minimum of one thousand direct client hours, complete corresponding supervision hours, and successfully pass several examinations.

How Long Have You Been in Practice?

I have been in clinical practice since early 2021, most of my experience being in private practice and group practice. I’ve further gained complimentary experience as a yoga teacher and mindfulness-based practitioner since 2019.

Do you Accept Health Insurance?

As an RP with the CRPO, I am covered by most private insurance plans that include counselling or psychotherapy. I do not bill insurance directly; however, I do provide detailed receipts clients may take to their insurance company for reimbursement. I always recommend prospective clients check with their insurance provider to see that a Registered Psychotherapist will be covered.

Are your Therapy Sessions Virtual or in Person?

I offer online therapy, in-person therapy, and a hybrid of both. My in-person office locations are in Toronto. I can provide virtual sessions to those living in Ontario as well as those living in any provinces or territories that do not currently regulate psychotherapy. If you reside in another regulated province, and are curious about working together, please reach out; certain regulatory colleges offer mobility permissions on a case-by-case basis.

What are your Rates?

My standard rate is $150 per 50-minute session. If you’re experiencing financial need or hardship and require access to a sliding scale, I can offer this as part of my private practice. Please connect with me to learn more about my current sliding scale availability.

Do you offer an initial consultation?

I offer a free 20-minute virtual consultation to explore your needs for therapy, talk a bit about how I work, and to get a feel for moving forward together. I look forward to hearing from you!
